Everyone Needs a "Girls Trip"

Downtown Chicago

Picture this, seven attractive women enjoying summertime Chi for a weekend of adventure and relaxation! Well, that’s exactly what my friends did this past weekend in honor of one of the women’s upcoming nuptials. It just so happen that the movie Girl’s Trip, starring Queen Latifah, was released on the same weekend as our little excursion. I had not seen the movie prior to the trip. But I do see the value in regular outings with your girls even if it is just for one night.

Why?

Well, you can get so caught up in the happenings of life that you neglect to connect. Maintaining a healthy relationship with the people who knew you before life became hectic reminds you of your lost innocence. Of the girl who took chances. Of the girl who enjoyed the simple things in life. Of the girl who boldly did the dare, or not? Getting away with women whom you love will nurture your spirit in ways new friends and associates cannot.

In the end, my friends went to Chicago for one night to celebrate one of our dear friends. Ok, I’ll admit it was a bachelorette party. But each woman walked away feeling a sense of relief having had some time away from it all. From the pressures of being home and the many hats we wear. In Chicago, we could let it all hang out…in matching tutus J And so should you!
